Camark PotteryA Brief History
Camark Pottery incorporated in Camden, Arkansas in 1926 and began producing pottery in 1927. John Lessell, a part owner, became the companies first designer. The first pieces he made are referred to as "Lesselware" and were produced in Ohio with Arkansas clay in 1926. Later that same year he suddenly passed away. But not before creating several different lines that the company would later produce. Through the years other potters and artisans became employed there, coming from various other potteries and backgrounds. In the early 1960's the company was sold to Mary Daniel and sporadically made pieces until her death in 1983. It is now owned by the Ashcroft family of Camden but, doesn't produce pottery. |

General Information and Websites Personally I have only seen (or noticed) a couple pieces of Camark pottery in person. My collection doesn't contain any of their works. This might change in the future if I become complacent with the lines & makers that I am amassing now. :) You may want to bookmark this site, as the links below will take you elsewhere...
